Welcome to Feisty Felines, a local rescue, dedicated to transforming the lives of cats in Thurston County, WA. We are a non-profit, volunteer-run organization that specializes in feral cat TNR (trap, neuter, return). We are passionate about our mission to provide a safe haven for cats, promote Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs, and advocate for their well-being. At Feisty Felines, we believe that every cat deserves a loving home and a chance at a better life. Our organization was founded by a group of compassionate individuals who recognized the urgent need for intervention in the lives of stray and feral cats. We are proud to be the driving force behind positive change for these vulnerable feline populations.

Feisty Felines was officially founded in 2020, but Misti & Brittany had been working together as independent trappers for some time before they recognized the community’s need for a local TNR program. This eventually grew into a foster and adoption program, as well as a low cost spay/neuter transport program. What sets us apart is our specialized focus on Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs. TNR is a humane approach to managing and controlling the stray and feral cat population. Through TNR, we safely trap these cats, have them spayed or neutered, provide necessary medical care, and return them to their original habitat. This process not only helps prevent the cycle of reproduction but also improves the overall well-being of the cats and the community they inhabit.

Our dedicated team of volunteers, staff, and partner veterinarians work tirelessly to carry out our TNR initiatives. We are committed to providing comprehensive care, ensuring that each cat receives the necessary vaccinations and any other medical attention required to maintain their health and happiness. Feisty Felines is also deeply committed to finding forever homes for cats who are able to be socialized and rehomed. We have a comprehensive adoption program that matches cats with loving families, ensuring a successful and harmonious transition. By promoting responsible pet ownership and education, we aim to reduce the number of cats that end up on the streets or in shelters.

As a non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of our community and cat lovers like you to continue our lifesaving work. Donations and volunteer efforts are essential to our success and enable us to expand our reach and impact. Being volunteer-run, 100% of your donation goes towards supporting our mission in helping these precious animals. Your support not only helps individual cats but also contributes to creating a more compassionate society where feline welfare is a priority. Join us in making a difference in the lives of cats in Thurston County. Whether you’re looking to adopt, volunteer, donate, or simply spread awareness, your involvement can help shape a brighter future for these beautiful creatures. Together, we can make these communities a safer and happier place for cats through our TNR initiatives, adoptions, and educational efforts. Contact Feisty Felines today to learn more about how you can contribute or get involved!

Misti, is the compassionate heart and driving force behind the nonprofit organization, Feisty Felines. As the founder, she is a living testimony to the belief that every cat life matters, regardless of their feral nature. Misti’s journey into the world of animal welfare started when a friend asked her to help out his mother whose home was foreclosing and she had “some cats”. What she found later was a 60-80 feral cat site and the lack of resources needed to help the animals, inspiring her to take action.

What started as a single TNR project in 2017, quickly grew into more. Despite working a full time job, Misti made time to join forces with others who shared a common goal and in 2020, she decided to leverage her passion and expertise to establish Feisty Felines. The non-profit is dedicated to improving the lives of feral cats through TNR programs, public education, and advocacy. Over the years, their diligent efforts have rescued, rehabilitated, and rehomed hundreds of cats while simultaneously controlling the local feral population.

Today, Misti continues to lead Feisty Felines with unwavering dedication. As a pillar of hope for the feral cats of Pierce & Thurston County, her work tirelessly focuses on the importance of TNR programs and securing a better future for these often overlooked members of the animal kingdom. Through her actions, Misti continues to show that every cat, feral or not, deserves a life free from suffering and neglect.

Kristin retired from the US Navy in 2022 after 28 years of active duty, and moved back to her beloved home in Gig Harbor. Once settled, she started volunteering with Feisty Felines and quickly became involved with multiple aspects of the rescue. Today she manages the prison foster program at the Washington Correctional Center for Women and usually has a couple of foster kitties at home too. (She especially likes the shy ones!) In her spare time you can find her hiking and camping on some mountain or hanging out with her own three cats, Buffy, Jackson, and Gus.

Vickie’s love for all animals has been a huge part of her life.  She accidentally got into rescue when her neighbor reached out for help with a momma cat with 2-day old kittens.  She enjoyed that journey and it continued with friends reaching out to her, but was expensive on her own.  She met Misti from Feisty Felines and started volunteering.  She has done a variety of things for the rescue, from spay run driver to fostering to trapping to being a foster coordinator to an all-around helper.

Vickie is a retired Army veteran with 20 yrs of medical training.  She has worked in civilian jobs that specializes in medical insurance.  Fully retired now, she dedicates a good portion of her time to helping save feral kittens or abandoned kitties and TNR feral adults. She found her passion in helping animals in need and also with her neighbors as they age and need help. Her motto is “Make a difference where you are.” What will your legacy be? Vickie has 7 cats, a 15 yr old blind recsue dog and a 5 yr old yorkie. She never planned to have all of them but each has a story and was meant to be.

Some might say Trisha is a “professional volunteer.” She spent 5 years volunteering as the Vice President for the Littlerock PTO and has also been a volunteer with Girl Scouts in many roles, including Troop Leader since 2015 and Service Unit Manager since 2021. One of the guiding principles in Girl Scouts, that she adopted herself, is “To Make the World a Better Place.” Trisha have always loved animals and is passionate about volunteering so she reached out to Feisty Felines in the spring of 2023 to learn more about becoming a foster. The Hall family received their first foster litter soon after. It was an all black litter of 3 spicy 6-7 week olds who quickly warmed up! Since then, Trisha, alongside her husband and daughter, have been able to help many kittens and a couple adults find loving, safe homes! Seeing that there was a need for additional help and wanting to contribute more, Trisha stepped up to help as the Volunteer Coordinator and one of the Foster Coordinators in 2024. Trisha says she absolutely love being a part of the Feisty Felines team and hopes we can continue to make a difference for the kitties and people in our community!

Jade, aka Abbie, has always been an absolute feline and animal lover. In 2023, She managed to participate as a foster and learned about trapping alongside her roommate and friend, Halle to work with the feral cat population/colony on Steamboat Island. Together they fostered 22 kittens that first year, with them keeping two of the kittens they fostered. Being able to make a difference in the welfare of these gorgeous, resilient kitties is the best feeling in the world. At the beginning of 2024, Jade moved back to Oregon, but wanted to continue helping Misti and the organization as best she could from afar. Now, she is a foster coordinator that does a lot of the more electriconic management / data entry tasks (and wouldn’t change it for the world). Jade also enjoy spreading information to others in her community that have questions about feral colonies and how best to care for them/TNR. Eventually she hopes to be back to fostering, but for now she is content to help from Oregon as best she can.

Colette started her journey volunteering with four legged friends, 20 years ago. Over the years she has done everything from fundraisers, trapping stray cats, working adoption events, writing stories about eligible cats and fostering cats and kittens. Having lived with a cat or two her entire adult life, she understands the love and joy a cat can bring to a home. Recently she started working with Feisty Felines. Colette started out supporting foster volunteers but soon found herself doing more. Working alongside other volunteers at Feisty Felines she has fostered cats and kittens in need and worked to find permeant homes for these animals. Despite working full-time, raising a teenager and taking care of her own 3 cats and dog, she has found the time to devote to other cats and kittens in need. Colette firmly believes that every animal deserves a long full life with love and dignity. Through her volunteer work Colette hopes others will get involved in animal welfare and create a compassionate community where every cat is valued and cared for.

Cat is a married mother of four who loves all animals and would have a zoo if she could. Her accounting degree makes her a good fit for managing the finances – especially since she works in tech and doesn’t use it for her “real job” Cat helps Feisty Felines because of her friendship with Misti – but continues for her love of animals. She knows if she didn’t help this way she’d be a foster fail for way too many cats so this is how she gives back. Cat and her family currently have a dog and 5 cats – 4 of whom are feisty rescues – and resides in Lacey, WA.

Jane, KA Kashani in the belly dance world, has always loved cats. She grew up with a house full of kitties. She has also always been active in various charities, having filled almost all the positions in PTA when her kids were in school, volunteering in classrooms, being on the board of Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. She was a state employee after moving to Washington from Maine, working in various agencies, retiring from the Department of Health’s Children with Special Health Care Needs program. Her son died in 2021 after being a long term childhood brain cancer survivor and her daughter is a Dr of Physical Therapy in Montana. She enjoys going to plays, dance performances (when she and her troupe, Mas Uda, aren’t actually performing), camping, long walks and classes at the gym. She first became interested in Feisty Felines through a then member of her dance troupe, Mary, who fosters kitties. Both of her cats are ones that Mary fostered, one is from the original colony that Mary had fostered. Jane adopted that kitty, Duchess, along with her brother. As well as the two cats, she and her husband have Chloe, a hound mix which they had gotten from a rescue when their son wanted a dog for company once he was in a wheelchair. The family has also had bunnies, bearded dragons, green anoles, a leopard gecko, mice and guinea pigs over the years.

Meet Brittany Evers, the compassionate co-founder and dedicated Vice President of Feisty Felines. Brittany’s journey with us began from a simple Facebook post from Misti looking for assistance. Recognizing the urgent need for intervention, she joined forces with like-minded individuals to establish our rescue organization, driven by a shared vision of a better future for feral cats.

Long before she dedicated herself to our cause, Brittany was a pillar in her community. Brittany’s heart has always been deeply rooted in service and to helping those in need around her, from volunteering at local food banks to the police department. So, animal rescue was a natural progression for her in life. Later an, she found herself involved in a small dog rescue for a few years but found herself looking for a bigger challenge.

Brittany has welcomed a baby boy into the world and has had to step back while she learns to navigate motherhood. Brittany’s heartwarming story and passion for rescue work continue to inspire both our team and the larger community. Her selfless dedication has made Feisty Felines Cat Rescue a beacon of hope for cats in need, and for this, we are incredibly grateful.

Meet Abby Albright, a lifelong animal lover and dedicated advocate for feline welfare. While she has always found ways to be involved with animals, her journey with us first began in 2021 when she signed on to foster a feral mom and newborn kittens. With open arms and an open heart, she provided a temporary home, where she nurtured, cared for, and witnessed firsthand the resilience of these beautiful creatures.

Fueled by her love for cats and the desire to make a difference, she stepped up from being a foster to serving as a board member in 2022. Her firsthand experiences dealing with the trials and triumphs of fostering have shaped her perspective and approach in this crucial role, making her an invaluable asset.

Abby also had to step back from her role as Vice-President in Feisty Felines when she welcomed a baby boy into this world. She still participates where she can, including the Mas Uda dance fundraiser annually. We appreciate the role she played in making Feisty Felines what it is today.
